Performance characteristics of dry cleaning materials and additives
(1) Dry cleaning solvent
Commonly used dry cleaning solvents are divided into the following categories:
One type is petroleum solvents: these products are a mixture of hydrocarbons distilled from crude oil.
Advantages: Less damage to the fabric, maintaining the color of the fabric, and the garment feels good after washing.
Disadvantages: Since the petroleum solvent is a non-polar organic substance, the dissolution range is narrow, there is almost no decontamination ability for hydrophilic stains, and it is flammable, has a high boiling point, and has a long boiling range and is unsafe. Therefore, companies that use such solvents have stricter safety regulations.
The other type is a synthetic solvent: mainly a naphthenic hydrocarbon such as trichloroethylene, tetrachloroethylene, trichloroethane, and the like.
Advantages: proper dissolving ability, wide range of dissolution, soluble small amount of hydrophilic stains, less damage to fibers, safe to use, non-flammable, easy to recycle.
Disadvantages: poor environmental performance.
(2) Dry cleaning additives
