ETV2 converts skin cells directly into vascular endothelial cells

Recently, a research paper published in the international magazine PNAS, researchers from the Keio University School of Medicine in Japan, said that they can directly use an ETS transcription factor called ETV2. The fibroblasts of the human body are transformed into functional endothelial cells.
Endothelial cells can form the body's vasculature to maintain the health of our body, such as supplying nutrients and oxygen to tissues or organs. Therefore, the use of certain transcription factors to convert non-vascular cells into endothelial cells can not only help development. It treats specific diseases of patients' diseases and can promote the maintenance of solid organs for pluripotent stem cell regeneration.
Researcher Rimpei Morita said that endothelial cell transplantation has been a potential treatment for ischemic disorders in individuals. In this article, we screened 18 transcription factors important for endothelial development and vascular development, and finally found the name. The transcription factor for ETS variant 2 (ETV2) converts primitive adult dermal fibroblasts into functional vascular endothelial cells.
Upon interaction with endogenous FOXC2 in fibroblasts, transduced ETV2 causes expression of a variety of key endothelial development factors, such as FLI1, ERG, and TAL1, and also induces expression of endothelial functional molecules, including EGFL7 and von Willebrand factor; this transformed functional vascular endothelial cell can exhibit endothelial cell characteristics in vitro and can form a mature functional vascular system in the transplanted mouse.
Finally, the researchers said that in this study, researchers used the transcription factor ETV2 to transform human fibroblasts into functional endothelial cells for the first time, which greatly helped to develop new targeted therapies for the treatment of human diseases.
