Harvester clutch tips

Clutch is the part directly associated with the gearbox in the drive train of the harvester. The active part and the driven part of the harvester can be separated temporarily, and they can be gradually joined. It is also possible to rotate relative to the gear during the drive process. Part of the interaction transmits the power torque of the engine to the walking system to achieve the start and shift functions of the harvester. There are three roles of the clutch: one is to ensure that the harvester starts steadily, the other is to ensure that the traveling system is smooth when shifting, and the third is to prevent the harvester from being overloaded.

Tips for using the clutch: At the start, step on the clutch pedal to the end so that the clutch is completely separated. When the clutch pedal is lifted, it starts to lift quickly. When the clutch pressure plate is gradually joined to the semi-linkage, it starts to slow down and makes the harvester start steadily.

Some of the operators are used to pressing the clutch first before encountering an emergency and then braking. This will increase the wear of the clutch. The practice of high-speed coasting on the clutch pedal is also highly undesirable. This not only makes it difficult to control the harvester's driving conditions, it also damages the clutch and is also susceptible to danger. It is a bad habit for beginners to step on and off due to lack of driving experience. This is not a good habit for a long time. It will not only aggravate clutch wear, but also cause slipping of the clutch, ablation of the clutch plate, and annealing of the compression spring. The clutch on the harvester is in a tightly engaged condition during normal driving and the clutch should not slip. Therefore, novices should develop good driving habits from the time they start driving: Don't step on the clutch at all other times except starting, shifting, and low-speed braking, and don't put your foot on the clutch pedal.
