High blight
Symptoms mainly affect seedlings. Occurred in the 2-3 leaf stage, the roots of diseased plants, red-brown, slow growth. In severe conditions, the seedlings withered and died, causing seedling deficiency. From July to August, individual plots also occurred in the middle and later stages of fertility, harming the roots and causing sorghum rot.
The pathogen Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn is known as Rhizoctonia solani, belonging to the fungus Aspergillus spp. The bacterium does not produce spores, and it spreads and reproduces mainly by mycelia. The primary mycelium is colorless, and is yellowish-brown in color. It is septum-separated and is 8–12 μm thick. The base of the branch is curled up. The old mycelium is often a series of barrel-shaped cells. The nucleus is nearly spherical or amorphous, 0.1-0.5 mm, colorless or light brown to dark brown. The spores are nearly round and the size is 6-95-7 (um). There are sexual states for Thanatephorus cucumers (Frank)Donk. The melon bacillus is a basidiomycotina fungus.
Transmission routes and pathogenic conditions The bacteria live in the soil and winterize with mycelium or seedling nucleus in the soil, which is a soil-borne disease. In addition to damaging sorghum, it can also harm seedlings or plants of corn, soybeans, beets, and upland rice, causing blight or root rot. Rainy areas or years in May or June are prone to onset, and low-lying drainage areas are seriously affected.
