IFS : International Food Supplier Standard is an international food supplier standard. It is a quality system auditing standard established by German and French food retailers for food suppliers. It was distributed globally by the German Trade Association in 2001 and is generally retailed in Germany and France. The firm accepts that many well-known European supermarket groups require suppliers to pass IFS audits when selecting food suppliers. The standard is more influential in European countries such as Germany and France, and IFS is also one of the quality system standards recognized by the International Federation of Food Retailers.
IFS is based on the ISO 9000:2000 standard program-oriented model layout, covering HACCP, quality management, product control, process control, plant environment and personnel and other content. Suppliers who successfully obtain IFS certification can increase their export opportunities, reduce multi-audit spending, gain the trust of major European retailers, accept consumer products, and reduce the risk of food crisis.
