Researchers at Harvard University investigated the diet of 190,000 Britons. People with a weekly white rice intake of more than 5 servings (approximately 250 grams) had a 17% increase in the risk of diabetes compared with those who did not consume more than one serving a month. Researchers believe that replacing 50 grams of white rice with brown rice per day can reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes by 16%.
