Scientists inspired by science fiction movies 3D printed emotion detector

A few days ago, researchers at Lancaster University in the UK used 3D printing to create an emotional detector that helps you determine if the other person is really attracted to you on the first date. According to Tiangong, this interesting device was inspired by Voight-Kampff, a interrogation tool used to identify biochemicals in the classic sci-fi movie "The Blade Runner" in 1982. 
However, it should be pointed out that this device is not yet functional, but it still conveys a more serious message. Its design team wants it to lead people to think, we use computers to monitor and even manipulate the ethical implications of our emotional world. The team also includes people from the University of London College (UCL) Spatial Analysis Center.
In The Blade Runner, the police use a Voight-Kampff machine like a polygraph to detect the emotional response of the subject and use this to determine if the other person is a biochemical robot. It measures changes in the body that are involved in emotional problems such as blushing, breathing, heart rate, and pupils. 
The Voight-Kampff machine, designed by researchers at Lancaster University, includes a device that can be worn on the ear to measure skin temperature, heart rate response, and pupil dilation.
Research team This device is designed for the background of online dating. In theory, it is mainly used to confirm whether the two parties on the online dating really have a good impression when they first contact (video or call) with the other party.
It is reported that the equipment designed by the research team is very simple and compact, and it can be easily installed on a smartphone or tablet.
“The look and feel of this machine is very real and even attracted a film production company to shoot the process we made this device. But it is actually a tool used to trigger some serious discussions.†The project leader Paul Coulton, a professor at Lancaster University, said.
It is understood that Professor Coulton is a Design fiction expert. The so-called Design fiction, in a broad sense, is a speculative design method that is mainly used to predict what might happen in the future of human-computer interaction, Coulton explained.
“An important factor in distinguishing and distinguishing Design fiction from other methods is its new application of the “World Building†approach. In this study, we used this device as an example to build an emotional test. A world that is a major component of future communication. For this we have been inspired by the sci-fi movie "The Blade Runner" because this movie has created a similar world."
“People are slowly turning this kind of thing into reality.†He added: “What we are doing is questioning whether it will have a place in our society – what their uses are, and the world will change with them. What do we want. People want people to think about such a moral issue - many things are technically possible, but do we really want it?"
