People who eat more than twice a week have twice the risk of premature death
The fries are delicious and unhealthy, but in the end the damage may not be carefully studied. Italian scientists found that the risk of premature death doubled among those who ate more than twice a week, compared with people who avoided eating chips as much as possible.
The Italian National Scientific Research Committee tracked 4,400 people between 45 and 79 years of age eating potatoes in the past eight years and obtained the above data. The French fries involved in the study refer to all fried potato foods. The researchers found that the age and gender of the survey respondents had no effect on the results, but men preferred fried foods more than women and young people.
Since this survey is only an observational study, it can only confirm that the consumption of French fries is associated with premature death, but it cannot be sure that the consumption of French fries will directly lead to premature death. In spite of this, the researchers pointed out that cooking oil is rich in trans fatty acids is one of the important factors explaining the association of fried potatoes and premature death. Research reports were published in the monthly issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
